Another facet of that Halloween evening (and November 1st and 2nd too): I biked from our current home over to 37th Drive. Considering my short stay (dusk to dawn), maybe I overpacked...

...but on an Xtracycle, you can get away with a lot. Some of this load was Halloween ambiance, remember (this is a photo from the first night: I left that yellow crate on site, so future bike trips weren't so bad).

Here's the campsite by lamplight (the second night: no Halloween decor, no chairs, no stove).
Dawn is just as beautiful in South Central as in the desert,
when seen from the door of a tent.Even after the slab is poured, I must do this more often. Anyone want to join me?

So, are you posting from the site right now? Is the whole family camping there this weekend?
Nope, sorry. Actually, I'm at a wedding right now, and was just showing one of the guests my website! (he's a friend I don't see often) So I'll camp at 37th Drive tomorrow night. But aside from that first night with Ricardo, I'm doing it alone, until someone else decides to join me. (hint hint, Garett! Alan!)
that's one crazy bike...
has anyone else come out of their houses to see what's going on with you camping out?
Yes, especially that first (Halloween) night. Since then, just one, actually. I think the grapevine is pretty robust on that block and the one just north of it, so word gets around fast. I did have one person stop by to see if the rumor was true, about a white guy camping out on his lot. I should have asked her what else she had heard, but didn't have the presence of mind, as I was in the middle of a cool train of thought and had to write it down before I lost it. This urban camping thing has really helped my writing.
So the lady and I did talk, but I couldn't help being a bit distracted. Oh well.
